Some of the things I would like to see Featurecam developers implement

1. Show/Hide/delete Unused curves
2. Option when copying things to “keep original or create copy” to apply to curves, srfs, solids
3. Sort surfacing so “use old code” is not necessary. Usually when selecting that option the code behaves as you wanted to in the first place so something has been messed up with newer versions!
4. Groove cycle to have option to go unidirectional
5. Stop the tree view expanding on its on and shifting up or left
6. Unable to select items when zoomed in. This means you have to zoom out to select a small item which makes it much harder to get the right bit!
7. Be able to save the 3D preview as a movie file
8. Be able to use the “add solid as clamps” facility part way through a setup. Maybe add it as a tab on the feature so clamps can be turned on and off during an individual setup.
9. Have the curves as sub level on the tree associated with the features so its easy to see what curve is with what and to de-clutter that panel as the curve tree gets quite long
10. Be able to allocate specific colors to specific tools for previews
11. Ability to edit the tool file in an excel sheet
12. Fix data entry window sizes to avoid need for scrolling
13. Force new features to append to the end of the Results tab by default if it is not set to AUTO
14. Featurecam to record the time spent working on each part by using a timer to record when the window being worked on is the ACTIVE window and when it becomes inactive. This data to be listed either in a text file and totaled up or in some attributes saved with the file and displayed at bottom of screen. Very useful for any company needing to know programming times.
15. Make “User” features available to show as toolbar icons
16. Have a Macro function to Record key sequences for common actions
17. Prevent boundaries that are being used from being deleted
18. Retain the font size of text and dimensions when file is saved and also be able to choose different text/dimension font sizes on same part
19. Save post processor with fm file

In answer to #19 I use this addin and it works well.

SavePostwithDoc.bas is a macro that will save the post processor path with the active document. The path to the active post is saved as a document attribute when NC code is generated. The macro will set the active post to this path when this document is opened or switched to from another document. Works with all FeatureCAM document types (Milling, Multiple fixture, Tombstone, Turning, Wire EDM).

About number 11, it would be possible to edit the tools in Microsoft Access if you are using a mdb file network tool database. Unless I am misunderstand what you are looking for.

14. I think there is already a macro to do this somewhere and if there isn't it shouldn't be too hard to make one. EDIT: Found it the time sheet macro at http://macros.featurecam.com/
15 Could be done with a fairly simple macro that would paste specific features or you could just a the Part Library button to the toolbar to gain quicker access.

Regarding #1:

1. Show/Hide/delete Unused curves

The API has the ability to distinguish if a curve is used in a feature. It works in any version 19.8.0.45 or later. You can use it to show, hide, delete, whatever you like. Here is a short snippet of sample code that deletes unused curves.

Code:
Sub Main
    Dim doc As FMDocument
    Set doc = ActiveDocument

    Dim c As FMCurve
    For Each c In doc.curves
        If c.IsPartOfFeature = False Then
            c.Delete
        End If
    Next
End Sub

Please send your wishes and bug reports to your support person. They will get tracked better and carry more weight.

Thank you.

Just make a new .bas file and paste that code into it. That is all that is required. If you want I could make it up and upload it somewhere for you.

Thanks, that is pretty slick. I usually go curve by curve deleting to find the unused ones. This will come in handy.

I'm happy that it will be helpful. Try out this updated addin that includes a dialog that includes options to hide/show/delete all unused curves. I will add a post to the API section containing this addin as well, so hopefully others can find it if they need it: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1663

Thanks for the help guys, I have tried the various versions of the delete curves but unfortunately none of them work.
Pasting the simple snippet does nothing and the show/hide/delete throws an error

no such property or method
show_unused_curves#81 Ifc.IsPartOfFeature = False Then'

I have sent these to my support person many times. Some of the items are being looked into but it all depends on how many users report problems or needs as to whether they do anything about them. The forum obviously attracts a community of very helpful people who may have the time or desire to tackle some of our needs in a more timely fashion.
