Summary: With the release of PartMaker Version 2015 R1 Service Pack 2 on May 5, 2015, we will begin distributing a new generation of multi-axis post processors, downloadable from our cloud-based library, appended with the suffix VE. Downloaded post processors with the VE suffix will only be compatible with PartMaker Version 2015 and higher, i.e. they will be incompatible with PartMaker Version 2014 and lower.

For example,

Incompatible with v2014 and below:

Compatible with v2014:

Further Explanation: Here at PartMaker, we are constantly working to improve the quality of our post processors. In PartMaker Version 2015, we made a number of enhancements to both PartMaker and ConfigPost to make the quality and scalability of PartMaker’s post processors even greater. One of these enhancements was the addition of new technology for automatically generating Post Processor Reference guides (visit to learn more).

To assure that PartMaker users everywhere are best able to take advantage of these improvements, effective May 6, 2015 with the release of PartMaker Version 2015 R1 Service Pack 2, we will be moving to a new generation of PartMaker Multi-axis post processors compatible with only PartMaker Version 2015 and higher. You will be able to identify such post processors because they have a “ve” suffix appended to them. Older generation post processors were appended with a suffix such as “va”, “vb” or “vc” when downloaded from the PartMaker multi-axis post processor cloud-based library via PartMaker’s “Download Licensed Post Config Files” utility.

At this time, not all of the library multi-axis post processors in our cloud-based library have been upgraded to this new generation of post processing technology, though in time they all will be. In practical terms, what this means for you as a user is the following:

1. If you are currently using a post processor without the “ve” suffix, it is just fine to carry on using that post. You just might not be able to fully take advantage of the new functionality added in PartMaker Version 2015.
2. You will not be able to use a “ve” post in a PartMaker version below PartMaker Version 2015
3. Any post modifications you receive to a distribution post you have licensed will be returned with the “ve” suffix and the usage rules above will apply (i.e. those posts will only be usable in PartMaker Version 2015 and higher). If this creates serious discomfort for your organization, please contact your PartMaker account manager to discuss special accommodation for your organization.

Please note, this change does not in any way impact your usage of PartMaker or ConfigPost or impact your ability to customize your own post processor output. Just the opposite actually. Many of the changes made in PartMaker Version 2015 and provided in “ve” appended posts provide even greater functionality for both programming and NC code customization.
