Nice and easy.....

First, click on View > Colour scheme to find out which scheme you have set as default.

Browse *****

Look for the '.scm' file that has the appropriate name, and open it with notepad. Near the bottom, you will see a section that tells you what to do.

#
# Set the background bitmap
# To do this, uncomment the 'background_image' line below (delete the #) and
# add the file name of the image that you wish to use for the background.
# For example:
#
# background_image: my_image.bmp
#
# Currently the following file types are all supported:
#
# .tif .tiff .jpe .jpg .jpeg .img .bmp .rgb .png
#
# The file should be placed in the following folder:
#
# sys\hci\colourscheme\images
#
# which is located in the folder where PowerSHAPE is installed.

I am really surprised it is that easy. I expected the answer to be "No, you can't do that."

Credit to the developers that included this flexibility.
